My favorite sailboat is the J/80, and I volunteer as a skipper for adaptive sailing programs whenever possible. I hold a PhD in fluid machines and energy systems engineering, as well as an MSc in nuclear engineering, specializing in numerical methods for computational fluid dynamics.

I grew up on a small estuary in South Carolina. I began kayaking at the age of 4, first Jon boat at 6, and continued up to a 30ft offshore powerboat at 14.
