Go down wind to a point where you can make it to the dock on a beam reach or close reach.
Brief Crew. Have dock lines ready and fenders positioned.
Head up to the dock. When you feel comfortable you are on a good track to the dock, begin furling the head sail.
Aim for a position on the dock where your midship will lie once docked.
The head sail should be all the way in prior to reaching the dock.
While heading to the dock you have been easing the main so that you are loosing momentum.
Take the bow as close to the dock as you possibly can.
At the dock you should have minimal forward momentum.
Midships should be close enough to step off the boat and tie the bow line to the dock cleat.
The bow line will stop the forward momenum. Make sure your crew member cleats it rather than using hand strength.
Cleat aft lines and spring lines. Get the main down.
Well done. Practice this with your engines on for safety until you get proficient.
